Hot on the heels of SDCC 2024 comes Disney’s giant fan convention, which intends to reveal just as much news about the future of Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Disney Animation, and the Disney Parks as a traditional Comic-Con. Everyone from Kevin Feige to Pete Doctor to Kathleen Kennedy and... uh Mickey Mouse...? arrived for the weekend of festivities. And there’s a lot at stake; when even Disney CEO Bob Iger admits on earnings calls that Disney needs to solve its slump, this is the stage where it could all turn around.

On Friday, Disney presented its big Entertainment Showcase, which featured long-awaited reveals and plenty of morsels for diehard fans. It was lots of sequels, a few original projects, and lots of promises that Disney will go big in 2025 and 2026. Things like:

  • Exclusive in-room footage of Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again, showcasing the return of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, and reveals of new hero White Tiger and villain Muse.
  • An eye-popping sizzle reel of the recently completed Tron: Ares, along with an announcement that Nine Inch Nails would take over for Daft Punk for soundtrack duties.
  • A new trailer for Moana 2, which sheds a bit more light on the story
  • Behind-the-scenes looks at Andor season 2, due out in 2025 (and with Ben Mendelsohn returning as his Rogue One character Krennic!), and The Mandalorian & Grogu, which just began principal photography and will hit big screens in 2026.
  • A first look at Toy Story 5, which will deal with technology advanced toys and pit Woody against 50 malfunctioning Buzz figures.
